Elchi — Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Elchi (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. What Elchi is

Elchi is a private, end-to-end encrypted, peer-to-peer messenger. Messages and calls are encrypted on your device; the provider operates supporting infrastructure (a relay for offline delivery and an address-discovery service) that, by design, cannot read message content or identify who communicates with whom. There are no user accounts; your identity is a cryptographic key generated and held on your device.

3. Your responsibilities

• Your key, your data. You are solely responsible for safekeeping your device and identity backup. Losing both means permanent, unrecoverable loss of your identity and history — the provider cannot restore them.
• Lawful use. You agree not to use the App for unlawful purposes, including distribution of illegal content, harassment, fraud, or infringement of others' rights. You are solely responsible for the content you send.
• Verification. For sensitive communication, you are responsible for verifying your contact's identity (QR / fingerprint comparison in-app).

4. What the provider does not do

The provider does not moderate, access, store, or restore message content; does not maintain user profiles; keeps no logs of communication metadata. Consequently the provider cannot recover data, unlock chats, reset identities, or identify users, including in response to user requests.

5. Service availability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available." The provider aims to keep the relay and discovery infrastructure running but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, delivery timelines, or fitness for a particular purpose. Peer-to-peer delivery additionally depends on both parties' networks and devices.

6. Acceptable use of infrastructure

Automated abuse of the relay/discovery servers (flooding, denial of service, running modified clients that violate protocol limits) is prohibited and may be rate-limited or blocked at the network level.

7. Intellectual property

The App, its name, logo, and branding are the property of the provider. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on your devices. Reverse engineering is permitted only to the extent allowed by applicable law.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, loss of data caused by device loss or user action, or content exchanged between users.

9. Age

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use the App.

10. Changes and termination

The provider may update the App and these Terms; material changes will be announced in the App or at https://elchi.tech with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the App at any time; the in-app erase function removes all local data.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
